大学英语教学的目标就是培养学生的语言综合运用能力, 而翻译能力正是语言综合运用能力的五个重要要素之一。然而, 从大英课堂教学和考核的情况来看, 我们学生的翻译水平离《大学英语课程教学要求》中翻译能力的一般要求尚有一段距离。另外, 国内外的许多研究还表明对学生而言翻译能力的提高对其英语写作水平影响重大。对他们而言翻译技能的培养比写作技能的培养更具有价值因为他们的写作采用的实际上是一种翻译式的写作方法。母语思维用得越多, 作文质量越好[1]。因此, 在大学英语教学中培养提高学生翻译技能及素质十分有必要。

2 翻译能力解析

关于译者能力的构成, 姜秋霞、权晓辉从翻译能力与翻译行为关系的角度将其分解成以下四个方面:1) 语言能力;2) 文化能力;3) 审美能力;4) 转换能力。其中转换能力是译者翻译能力中的关键因素。[2]无论时代如何变化, 翻译能力的核心要素双语双文化转换能力始终是做好翻译的关键。下面本文将针对《教学要求》中一般英语翻译能力要求着重谈谈如何在大英教学中提高学生语言能力、文化能力以及转换能力, 从而达到提高翻译能力的目的。

3 大学英语教学中提高学生翻译技能的实践探索

3.1 在大英教学过程中提高语言能力

翻译是许多语言活动中的一种, 它是用一种语言形式把另一种语言形式里的内容重新表现出来的语言实践活动[3]。因此, 具备良好的语言能力是翻译的必要条件。一方面要掌握全面的英语语法知识, 另一方面要有很大的词汇量, 两者缺一不可[4]。大学英语教材如《新视野大学英语》等课本中就给学生提供了丰富的语言素材。我们的教学, 传统上也向来重视词汇、固定搭配、语法、句型等。在教学中, 我们要指导学生发现比较两种语言表达上的异同, 尤其要注意差异。通过教学再辅以课后的巩固练习, 扎扎实实地日积月累应该不难打下良好的语言基础。当然, 如果我们能充分调动学生的学习兴趣, 课后补充阅读, 效果肯定更好。

3.2 在大英教学过程中培养文化能力

语言和文化的关系密不可分。著名语言学家、翻译家、和翻译理论家尤金.奈达博士在《语言与文化翻译中的语境》一书中指出语言是文化中最具特色的东西, 语言代表文化, 它们相互作用相互影响。而文化简单说来是指一个社会的观念和习惯的总和。尽管语言也许只是文化当中相对较小的一个部分, 但是它对于文化的永存和发生作用却是不可或缺的。同样地, 优秀的译者总是会通过相关语言所属的文化来最终确定话语的意义。[5]所以要想成功地进行语言转换, 不但要掌握双语还要掌握双语承载的双文化。奈达博士认为拥有双文化能力比双语能力更重要:“For truly successful translating, biculturalism is even more important than bilingualism, since words only have meanings in terms of the cultures in which they function” (由于词语只有在其产生作用的文化中才具备意义, 所以对于真正成功的翻译而言, 掌握两种文化甚至比掌握两种语言更为重要。) [5]。因此培养学生的双文化能力也即跨文化交际的能力至关重要。

在大学英语教学过程中, 我们必须引导学生特别关注产生英语这种语言的文化背景, 尤其是不同于中国文化的部分, 在习得语言的同时习得相关文化知识, 这样我们的学生才会有能力在文化的鸿沟上搭建起沟通的桥梁。输入文化信息、培养文化意识可以从词汇着手。我们要引导学生掌握谚语、格言、专有名词、文学典故、惯用语和某些特殊词汇所蕴含的文化内涵。文化背景知识的导入和分享也是很重要的。我们要让学生去寻找去分析和了解两种文化的差异, 从宏观上培养跨文化交际的意识和能力。词典和百科全书是为我们提供重要战略文化信息的重要来源, 但是它们永远代替不了亲自置身于相关外语国家生活的作用。所以大多数培养翻译译员和口译译员的项目都要求学员去国外生活半年到一年的时间。只有生活在那里, 才能敏锐地体会到一些词汇和短语的特殊含义。[5]显然, 要让我们的学生这样做是根本不现实也不必要的, 但是我们可以充分利用网络信息技术, 通过学生感兴趣的视频音频材料引导他们更直观地接触、感受英语国家的风俗习惯、社会文化;后续还可以进行文字材料的查阅, 对此获得更加充分全面的了解。通过以上方面, 拓宽文化视野, 储存丰富的文化信息, 理解文化的差异性, 构建沟通的桥梁从而增强学生跨文化交际的能力。

3.3 在大英教学过程中培养转换能力

曾获诺贝尔文学奖提名的林语堂先生三十年著作全用英语, 其作品曾轰动欧美文坛。他还写下了不少关于翻译的文章, 这些作品无不体现其深厚的中英文基础。其中《论翻译》是其对翻译理论论述最全面、最系统的文章。林语堂认为翻译是一门艺术, 这门艺术所依赖的:“第一是译者对于原文文字上及内容上透彻的了解, 第二是译者有相当的国文程度, 能写清顺畅达的中文, 第三是译事上的训练, 译者对于翻译标准及手术的问题有正当的见解”。[6]林先生所提一、二条指明译者应具备良好的双语言能力, 第三条说到的其实是转换能力, 即译出语和译入语之间的转换能力。那么良好的转换能力就意味着对于翻译持有中肯的翻译标准、能使用合适的翻译策略、翻译方法以及翻译技巧。翻译是一门实践性很强的艺术, 而大英课堂并非专门的翻译课堂, 所以我们只能充分利用那些恰当的时机通过翻译练习、赏析使学生掌握翻译的标准、技巧、策略等, 通过理论的提高和实践的磨练, 实现对学生翻译技能的培养。我们要根据翻译技能培养项目有针对性、有计划地从教材中选取有代表性的词汇、长难句、段落以及课后汉译英和英译汉的练习题让学生通过翻译实践通过比较归纳总结出相关翻译理论、策略和技巧。对经典篇章或段落进行“回译”练习和赏析也是一种很好的方法。不过要注意, 即使是词汇、句子、段落的翻译, 也要有语篇观。也就是说意义的判断、措辞等要从整体语篇着眼, 译前先要明确交际情景、翻译目的、读者对象等因素, 译文才会符合整个语篇所涉及的情景、文化及其交际目的。

4 总结

随着经济的发展, 社会对人才的要求也在不断提高。既有专业知识, 又有一定翻译能力的人才必然受欢迎。大学是培养此类人才的主要渠道, 所以必须切实加强公共英语翻译教学, 有效提高学生的翻译能力。

从当前高职院校的大学英语课堂的现状来讲，教学中存在许多问题，例如：课本内容的僵化无生活性；教学方式的教条无灵活性；师生之间的情感断裂无互动性等。再具象描述便可总结为：教师板书，学生笔记；教师毫无激情讲，学生呆若木鸡听。总而言之，学生缺乏学习积极性导致教师授课热情减退；教师授课热情的逐渐消退越发引发了学生学习积极性减退，两者“互相促进”“互惠互利”。从这样的现状中，我们其实能够看出到底是哪里出了问题——人文情感交流。传统意义上的人文情感交流在课堂上其实也被叫做“互动”，但这样的互动仅限于师生之间在课堂上对于信息知识的一问一答，如果只问不答，这种人文情感交流便会面临断裂，就会出现上文中所描述的现状。因此，一种新的人文情感交流教学方法的引入和应用，对于打破这“一潭死水”必然会起到重要的作用。

一.何为头脑风暴法

“头脑风暴”由美国“创造学之父”A.奥斯本提出，是一种训练发散思维的有效方法，被广泛地用于创造性思维活动中[1]。顾名思义，这种方法即是以人的想象力为核心而使受训者的思想如暴风雨般迅猛而泛滥，最终达到“集思广益”的效果。奥斯本曾提出过应用“头脑风暴法”的四项基本原则：自由想象；延迟评判；以量求质；综合改进。

二.“头脑风暴法”在大英课堂翻译部分的应用案例

（一）大英课堂翻译部分的简要介绍

高职院校大学英语课本中强调听、说、读、写、译这五项基本应用技能。翻译往往作为其中的一个重要的技能被设计。它一般分为两个部分即英译汉和汉译英。英译汉中的训练内容是以当单元文章中的一些重点短语或词组为基础而设计一些句子，要求学生将此汉语句子翻译为英文，句中必须使用该短语或词组。而汉译英的训练是以句子结构为训练的主要目标，一般分为单句翻译和正段翻译，为了降低难度迎合高职学生的实际水平，但又紧跟全国大学英语四六级考试的步伐，这部分的内容多取自该章所节选文章中的句子或者段落。

例如：中国正想尽一切办法把新技术引到西部去。（introduce）

本例句为汉译英练习，节选自实用综合教程（第二版）第四单元课后练习（第72页），本书总主编为王守仁，上海外语教育出版社。

（二）根据头脑风暴法的流程探讨其在翻译课堂中的应用

本文中我们以总主编为王守仁，上海外语教育出版社出版的《实用综合教程》（第二版）中的翻译部分为例。因为本书是新标准高职公共英语系列教材，因此它是根据《高等职业教育英语课程教学要求》编写的，具有基础性、实用性以及科学性的特点，亦符合本文所针对的研究对象。

1、实施“头脑风暴法”的前期准备工作

实施“头脑风暴法”的前期工作主要包括确定主题，即待解决的问题。这些问题在确定时需要注意问题要具体，越具体的问题对于教师来说越容易引导，学生也容易参与讨论。以教材《实用综合教程》（第二版）的翻译课堂为例：

3、明示纪律及规定时间

我们之所以要将“头脑风暴法”引入大英课堂，主要还是要建立师生之间的人文情感，所以在此法应用过程中，作为主持者即教师需要掌握师生之间的平衡，在平衡关系中建立合作。为了使参与者能够积极参与讨论，教师也需要有一些纪律要求学生们遵守，例如认真思考，直面议题，积极讨论等。

关于讨论的时间，要根据我们确定的主题来灵活规定，以教材《实用综合教程》（第二版）的第七单元翻译课堂为例：

Yesterday I worked until 2：30 before I remembered I hadn’t eaten lunch.

教师在分组后，规定用15分钟的时间进行组内讨论，由组长记录并总结出小组讨论的结果。在此过程中，教师要逐组视察，进行适当引导。

4、综合总结

通过了小组的头脑风暴畅谈之后，各个小组得出了相当多的讨论结果。例如：昨天，我一直工作，直到两点半，我记得我还没有吃午饭；昨天，在我记得我没吃午饭之前，我工作直到2点半；昨天，我一直工作到两点半，之前我都记得我还没有吃午饭；昨天，我一直工作到两点半，才想起来我没有吃午饭；等等。

至此，头脑风暴的任务并没有完成，将小组讨论的结果进行综合整理并加以分析才是这个方法的精髓之处，目的是让学生们找到最佳的翻译方式。在这个步骤中，必须要求教师严格平等对待每一组所探讨出来的观点，再反复和学生集体比较之前第一个阶段给出的例句，分析并讨论哪种或哪几种翻译方式更为科学。

三、结论

为何大英课堂中的翻译能够使用“头脑风暴法”呢？这首先取决于头脑风暴法本身的特点，即多样性。我们可以通过头脑风暴讨论出多于一种的结论。其次，翻译本身的特点，即多样化。翻译的版本可根据译者的不同而不同，只要能够表达出被翻译者的本意，如何说并不重要，而翻译课堂有头脑风暴的加入更能凸现人文情感连接，激发学生与教师的双重主观能动性。
