一、口语考试的意义
1927年, 社会语言学家Hymes首次提出了“交际能力”这一概念, 指出语言学习者不仅要掌握语言知识还需具备运用语言知识的能力。语言学家Morrow (1979) 认为, 我们应该区分“交际能力”和“交际行为”, 因为学习者的语言能力是通过其具体的语言行为表现出来的, “交际行为”反映的不仅是语言使用者的语言知识, 而且还有在具体的语境中, 在有实际意义的交际情景中运用语言并展示其语言知识的能力, 体现了构成“交际能力”各因素之间的相互关系。因此, 测量学习者的语言“交际能力”各因素之间的相互关系, 最好的方法是对他们的语言行为进行直接测试。如写作考试尤其是口语考试, 它就是语言测试中的一个极其重要的方面 (Weir, 1999) 。
二、大学生口语交际能力薄弱的原因
1、传统教学模式的制约
20世纪五六十年代甚至七十年代, 我国外语教学采用语法翻译法, 就是外语与母语的互译即词汇和结构一一对应相互替换。以后的听说法教学虽强调了听说训练, 但在目前的大学英语教学中, 教师也常常无意识地强调阅读的重要性和笔头训练的必要性, 或回到停留在单词语法翻译“三点式”的旧的教学模式上, 教学仍是以教师为中心的灌输形式和笔头练习为主的形式。
2、大纲、考试因素的制约
八十年代初期, 大学英语教学大纲对教学的要求是阅读为主、听说为辅。且由于四六级考试只包括听、写、译等内容, 其中除了“写”为直接测试学生用英文进行书面表达的能力, 其它均为间接测量学生对语言知识和语言技能的掌握。当人们把此项考试成绩作为衡量学生英语水平的尺度时, 往往忽略了口语, 虽然人们对培养英语交际能力的重要性已有了不同程度的认识, 但是, 既然不测试口语, 很多学校的教师和学生在口语训练方面所投入的时间也就相对较少, 有的甚至根本不开展口语教学活动。久而久之, 大学英语教学便把培养学生的口头交际能力这一重要内容给忽略了。
三、口试对口语交际能力培养的启示
1、培养学生语言表达的准确性
在基础阶段, 教师可结合阅读课文, 在向学生输入一些词、词组或句型的意义和用法之后, 让学生在例句的基础上进行口头表达, 学生可以自由发挥, 教师也可给出一些语言环境尤其是与学生自身有关的语言环境以提高他们的兴趣。对于自由表达有困难者, 教师可让其进行口头翻译练习。
2、加强学生口语的流利性
在学生有了一定基础后, 应加强其口语表达的流利性。教师要营造一种宽松的环境, 培养学生对英语口语的兴趣, 提供真实的交际语境, 就学生感兴趣的话题引导和鼓励学生开口讲英语。对学生的表现及时肯定并给予表扬, 对他们的错误, 只要不影响意义的表达与交流, 不必有错必纠, 这样有助于树立学生的自尊心与自信心, 培养他们的主观能动性, 使之摆脱害怕出错、羞于开口的心理。
3、培养学生的语言策略能力
由于学生掌握的词汇、句型和语法有限, 在口语表达过程中常常感到力不从心, 因此在英语课堂上, 教师应介绍以目的语为基础的逻辑思维模式及其实现手段与策略, 包括描写、举例、概括、归纳与演绎等, 这些策略有助于学生把已有的语言知识联系起来, 去创造性地组织和表达自己的思想与观点, 有利于他们对目的语的内化, 从整体上提高学生语言的口头交际能力和实际交际中信息传递的有效性。
4、教师在教学实践中的尝试
第一 , 给学生布置些口语作业 , 可以让学生用英语口述新闻内容 , 或口头对某一社会现象进行评述 , 也可以讲幽默故事等。然后在每次的英语课上利用五到十分钟的时间, 让学生轮流表演出自己准备的内容。第二 , 在班级或者年级中进行英语演讲比赛。要求文章须是自己所写 , 但内容、体裁不限。这样 , 不但增强了学生的竞争意识, 还调动了他们用口语交际的积极性。第三, 要求学生在英语课堂上不能用汉语交流。规定学生只要走进英语课的教室, 一切的交流活动均须通过英语进行, 不得借助母语。这样 , 学生可以在老师的及时指导下 , 更加有效地进行口头交流活动。
总之, 大学英语口语考试的实施, 对于改变学生学习英语的态度, 提高学生口语交际的能力起到了积极的推动作用。口语表达能力是一种输出, 要想有效提高, 只有在口头和书面多维输入的基础上进行大量口头输出练习, 在“做中学”, 而不是在“学中做”。口语训练是多方位的, 关键在于教师观念的转变, 课堂上的有效组织, 多一点师生之间或学生之间的互动, 并不断进行英语教学改革, 这样才能切实提高学生的口语表达能力。

I do not think the traffic condition is bad in Nan Chang expect when it is during the rush hours ,but when it rains , all is in mess.For the road will be full of water and serious traffic jams even traffic accidents will be caused.With respect to causes of traffic jam ,not strict traffic regulations ,poor driving ,crossing the red light and so on.As for the traffic jam in the city ,there are three ways to deal with them.First ,strict traffic regulations are in need of issuing.Second , more training are given to drivers.Third ,we need to persuade people to observe traffic regulations and not to cross the street when the red light is on.If the three ways can work well ,I am sure the traffic jam in the city can be solved effectively.3.冲浪
