“Life is like a box of chocolates.You never know what you’re gonna get.” However, when you watch Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks as Forrest and Robin Wright as Jenny, you know you are going to get a lot of laughs and even a few tears.The screenplay for the 1994 movie was written by Eric Roth, based on the novel by Winston Groom.The story follows Forrest through 30 years of trials and tribulations, placing Forrest within historical moments of history, and in pursuit of his one dream–his “most special friend,” Jenny.According to the Washington Post, Forrest Gump won Oscar awards for Best Picture, Best Actor(Hanks), Best Director(Robert Zemeckis), Film Editing, Visual Effects and Adapted Screenplay.The movie was well deserving of these awards since the acting and the visual effects were extraordinary.The films’ actors success in portraying their characters is a major factor in the film’s awards.Tom Hanks and Robin Wright worked well together, just like “peas and carrots.” The on-screen chemistry between the two was phenomenal.I felt a real connection between the two, finding myself mad at Jenny when she blew Forrest off and in tears when he told her that he was heading to Vietnam.Mokui’s Movie Review states “Tom Hanks IS Forrest Gump…He breathes life into the guy and you will feel what Forrest feels”(1994, par 1).James Berardinelli states, “Robin Wright gives the best performance of her career, surpassing what she accomplished in The Playboys”(1994, par2).Another performance that stands out is that of Gary Sinise.Sinise plays the part of Lieutenant Dan Taylor, whose life is saved by Forrest during the Vietnam War.James Berardinelli writes, “In this movie, his Lieutenant Dan Taylor is riveting”(1994, par 3).I thought that Sinise was quite convincing with his emotions throughout the movie, as if he was really a disabled vet who had lost both legs in the war.Just as good as the actors were those working behind the scenes with the special effects.Throughout Forrest Gump the special effects were incredible.During Lieutenant Taylor’s scenes, I was convinced that he really didn’t have legs.I was studying the scenes, looking for any signs of legs, trying to figure out how it was done.It turns out that each and every frame was painted over to give it the true to life values that it holds.Also bringing the movie more credibility was the ability to place Forrest in history making events.These events ranged from Forrest teaching Elvis how to swing his hips to meeting Presidents for various accomplishments.These television clips of Forrest were done with such finesse that they look real.Critic Brian Webster(2003)states, “This is handled virtually flawlessly;if you didn’t know better, you’d believe that a fellow named Gump really did tell President Lyndon Johnson that he had been shot in the rump while acting heroically in Vietnam”(par 2).Rolling Stone(2003)states, “The effects dazzle, though never at the expense of the story”(Travers, par 2).This story, complete with the Oscar winning performances in both acting and special effects is perfect for those in need of a dose of goodness.My family enjoys watching Forrest Gump together for rejuvenation, to view someone with true values of honesty, friendship and family.Forrest, with his heart of gold and his low IQ, never gives up.He

always looks for the best in every scenario.The movie opens with a feather floating down over the city, landing at Forrest’s feet.Near the end of the story, Forrest questions, “Do we each have a destiny-or do we just float around accidental, like on a breeze?” As you are contemplating this question, the feather reappears and floats through the countryside right up into the ending credits.

After watching the movie FORREST GUMP,I was really movedGump.It is unimaginable that a boy whose IQ is only 75 can have such a wonderful life.In the movie, Jenny is a very important person for gump.I think the change for Gump is started from Jenny’s shout “RUN FORREST ,RUN FORREST ”.It is running that makes his life differently.Then he run to college and get a degree, and run in the war to save his and his friends life.In short he is always running in different ways.Though his IQ is only 75,he can understand what his mother told him and always obey it.His mother said “life is like a box of chocolates ,and you never know what you are gonna get”.Yes ,Gump’s life is really like a box of chocolates ,and it always give us surprise.Life is really strange ,we know that Gump never has a big dream of his life ,but he always take us miracle.I remember that when no one wants to sit together with him on the first time to school ,Jenny appeared and called him to sit with her.And many years later on the way to the war the same situation come again ,and Bab appeared to do the same with Jenny.And then Jenny was the most important women for Gump ,and Bab was his real friend.During the war he rescued Dan who was the other real friend for Gump.after retired from military service Gump keep his promise to Bab that to be a shrimber,maybe the god help him that he actually to be a millionaire.Gump is a silly , he get what normal can not get.Through gump I know that we should be loyal to love, friendship and promise.

The traditional hero type is classically depicted to possess an image that is larger than life.They are generally expected to be more physically attractive, stronger, braver, more clever or charismatic than the average everyman.They always use reason over human nature.The creation of hero image embodies cultural conventions in a society.It is a mouthpiece of the moral principles.Its existing deepens notions of dominant class, as Roland says:“it embodies a body of ideas and practices, which by actively promoting the values and interests of dominant groups in society, defend the prevailing structures of power.”

However, in postmodernists’view, there is no superiority and inferiority.Heroes are not flawless.They may be ordinary people and have human nature such as cowardly, greedy, and selfish.A person is fraught with human frailties, unlike the perfect images of the white-hatted cowboy and the noble warrior.In the postmodern era, traditionally defined heroic qualities, akin to the classic"knight in shining armor"type, have given way to the"gritty truth"of life, and authority in general is being questioned.In order to break the shackles of the traditional concept, seeking self-liberation, postmodernists try to create"Anti-hero"images which are often ordinary person, especially persons who are invisible in modern society and are marginalized by traditional notions and morality.They are timid, or have some kind of moral, mental or physical defects.

Forrest Gump is such a person with physical defect and inferior IQ.He is considered to be“abnormal”.Ironically, such a“abnormal”become an icon of the country and admired by people in“normal”world.Despite his below average IQ, Forrest’s ability to run very fast gets him into the University of Alabama on a football scholarship.After graduation, Forrest enlists in the Army where he makes friends with Bubba.Both of them are sent to Vietnam.When their platoon is ambushed, what Forrest wants to do is just run away.But Bubba’s disappearance makes him run back to search his friend and he just wants to save Bubba.In the course of search for his friend, Forrest hear men’s cry for help.He rescues many of the men in his unit.For his actions, Forrest is awarded the Medal of Honor.When Forrest tells Lt.Dan about his plans for a fishing business, the lieutenant replies jokingly that the day Forrest becomes a fisherman, he'll be first mate.However, Forrest successes and makes a lot of money.Jenny returns to visit Forrest tells him that she does love him, but she leaves the next day.On a whim, Forrest elects to go for a run and simply decides not to stop.Over the next three years, two months, fourteen days and sixteen hours, he runs coast to coast across the country several times, gathering a large following.His foul language"SHIT HAPPENS"became the slogan stickers;his shirt with a recession on the facial mud, actually became the bestselling painted face designs.He become an icon of the country.Forrest’s popularity subverts the traditional hero type.It makes people understand that everyone can be“hero”and value diversity.

或许我们的生活真的很坎坷，我们长的不好看，我们经常被人看不起，而且我们还贫穷，这部电影的主人公阿甘，他的生活就像我们这样的坎坷，不但贫穷而且还愚蠢，但他却以真理一般的事实向我们宣告了一个“傻人有傻福”的道理。“Stupid is as stupid does.”面对别人的嘲笑，阿甘喜欢这样的回答别人，他承认自己的傻，但他却从不向命运低头！阿甘的妈妈经常总是告诫他：“ Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”面对生活上的困难与挫折，阿甘总是相信“Miracles happen every day”。珍妮也跟阿甘说过：“ If you are ever in trouble, don’t try to be brave, just run, just run away.”或许这对我们的国家更应当有所启示，我们总是强调个人要以集体的利益为重，但我们忽略掉了对于个人利益的保护，我们都是不是神，我们自己也需要“always protest ourself”。“I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental like on a breeze.” 我不懂我们是否有着各自的命运，还是只是到处随风飘荡。“愚人不愚”，阿甘不仅向我们展示的他自己的精彩生活，而且让我们更加坚信我们自己的生活，在每个人的生活中，不管愚钝，还是聪明，不管倒霉，还是幸运，不管贫穷，还是富有，我们都会有属于自己的信仰，去追求一切美好善良的东西！

阿甘，由3k党而得名字，他虽是一个智商在75以下的人，但是他善良、醇厚、真诚、执着、勇敢。。。电影开头阿甘说：“妈妈说‘人生就像一盒巧克力，你无法预知会吃到什么口味’”。这句话诠释了电影的主题。阿甘的这一人物形象和人物性格是怎么塑造的呢？我从电影细节和电影中的冲突几个点来简单评析。

第一个细节：电影开头出现阿甘鞋子的特写镜头。

镜头由阿甘的鞋子摇至画面显示出阿甘，他在公交车站和一位女士谈起他的鞋子，从而引出他的脚。

第二个细节：阿甘回忆小时候的鞋子。

承接着电影开头阿甘的鞋子到他回忆小时候的鞋子，也是从脚开始。展开情节的发展，前后呼应，展开他的脚的情节和“跑”，将阿甘的纯朴、单纯、执着展现。

第三个细节：阿甘在球场比赛中站着不动，抱着球跑完了也没停下。

阿甘在球场比赛橄榄球，他智商不高，不知道怎么比赛，只能听从教官们的指令让他抱着球跑。他简单得、执着得跑着。到比赛结束了也不知道停下来。别人都笑他傻，然而他是真正的那么单纯、执着。只为一件事——跑，因为安妮一直都叫他跑。

第一个冲突：阿甘去学校送巧克力给珍妮，看见珍妮和他的男朋友在车上，以为男友欺负珍妮，和珍妮男朋友发生冲突，也和珍妮发生冲突。在这一段中，展现阿甘对珍妮的珍爱和爱怜，阿甘是一个对爱真诚的人。

第二个冲突：珍妮被开除学籍，在一所酒吧当歌手，阿甘找到珍妮，从舞台上救下珍妮，阿甘希望珍妮留下来，而珍妮选择离开，两人发生冲突。阿甘爱护珍妮，但是也不强求珍妮一定要在他身边，一定要留下来，他尊重珍妮，爱她。不管多久，不管珍妮现在和曾经是什么样子，他都一如既往得爱着珍妮，执着得爱着她。

第三个冲突：阿甘前往越南，参加越南战争，认识了丹中尉。丹中尉作为军人，秉承军人要死在战场上才光荣，坚持不离开战争，而阿甘执意救出丹中尉。两人发生冲突。阿甘本来只是想回去找布巴，但是途中就了其他队友和丹中尉，丹中尉作为今人的执着和阿甘只是想带他出来的执着发生了冲突。阿甘只是在做自己人为该做的事情。他的人性美得以体现。

第四个冲突：约翰总统颁发荣誉证书给阿甘，在一个聚众地阿甘又见到了珍妮，珍妮带阿甘来到黑豹党工作室后，珍妮被人打，阿甘与黑豹党发生冲突。阿甘只是纯粹的不能看到自己深爱的珍妮被人欺负，以为他自己都舍不得珍妮不快乐一点。

第五个冲突：珍妮又要走了，送别珍妮时，与威斯特发生冲突，阿甘向珍妮求爱，但珍妮还是走了。阿甘爱着珍妮，深深地爱着她，执着地爱着她，尊重她，包容她。
