1 了解“90后”

“90后”是“80后”的派生词,指1990年1月1日至1999年12月31日出生的一代中国公民。“90后”与“80后”均出生在改革开放后,但不同的社会背景和成长环境,使得“90后”有诸多不同之处。

1)更需要关心。许多“90后”的父母赶上国家经济转型“铁饭碗”被打破,下海了,需要重新择业,巨大的压力使他们把绝大部分时间都放在了工作上。所以对孩子的教育脱离不了金钱,不能从情感的角度去感化孩子。他们在情感上和心理上缺乏应有的温暖感与亲切感。

2)以人为本。21世纪之初科学发展观的提出,把以人为本作为了中国发展的一个重要目标,因此,成长在这种氛围之下的“90后”,价值观中的人本化取向将是极其鲜明和强烈的。

3)更世俗化。当社会的理性化趋势不断扩张的时候,科技的力量、市场的强势等所导致的紧张、忙碌,使得“90后”不爱回眸历史、思考意义,更多地是存活于当下,认为多获得一些资格证书,比多读一些哲学书,更加实用。

4)引领娱乐、张扬个性。随着消费时代的来临,似乎一切社会生活领域都被娱乐化机制所渗透。在这种背景下,娱乐从一开始便成为“90后”的一种基本生活方式。不仅如此,他们还时常引领社会的娱乐潮流。而且“90后”是大力张扬个性的一代,这种个性张扬将从衣着、发型等个人生活领域向参与、表达等社会生活领域扩展。

大学英语教学现状已不能满足个性鲜明的“90后”学生的需求,因此,发现并解决大学英语教学中的不足是高校和英语教师需要共同努力的任务。

2 大学英语教学中的不足

2.1 学分制固有属性的负面效应

目前,各高校的学分制实行目标管理机制,学生修满规定学分即可毕业或申请学位。在学生自主学习能力还不能适应学分制要求的现实下,有些学生对大学英语课的功利性强,形成一股“想要拿学分,只过60分”的学分至上的不良风气,歪曲了学生自主学习的良好氛围。

2.2 情感教育缺失

“90后”在成长中受到来自家庭和社会的情感教育不足,而大学教育中的情感教育就显得更为迫切,在校大学生热捧那位在课堂上跳劲舞的老师也是“90后”学生对情感教育渴求的表现。但目前各个高校的英语教师师资不足,备课、上课、改作业、改试卷等大量的工作已经使大学英语教师筋疲力尽了,还有晋职的压力,而且许多英语教师是女性,她们对自己的家庭和孩子的照顾更多。在工作和生活的压力下,英语教师对学生的情感教育显得心有余而力不足。

2.3 大班授课的弊端日益突出

近年来,随着高校的扩招,我国高等院校的英语教学普遍采用了大班教学模式。随着素质教育的理念对学校教育的逐步渗透和大学英语教学的目标从传授语言知识向培养学生语言交际能力的转变,大班教学中的问题变得越发突出,直接影响着教学质量的提高。一些高校中的大学英语课人数常常达到90甚至100人以上,在这样的班级中进行英语教学,学生在英语语言能力方面的差异更大,不能体现学生的主体性,学生的个性得不到彰显,加剧了学生与学习之间的矛盾,教学要求更难统一。

2.4 英语教材缺乏专业性

近十几年来,我国的大学英语教材改革已经取得了可喜的成果。但教材的更新与经济和科技发展要求的差距还很大。虽然有人认为大学阶段是基础阶段,学生应该学习各方面的知识。但学生反映:时间和精力有限,希望把主要精力放在专业上,有针对性的学习一些与专业相关的英语知识来提高英语应用能力,避免出现学到的东西在毕业后用不到的情况。

3 解决大学英语教学不足的对策

3.1 实行灵活的学分制度

“90”后学生是更世俗化的一代,因此,学校可以实行考证抵学分、社会实践抵学分等灵活的学分制度以鼓励学生自主学习英语。例如,获得大学英语四级合格证、英语口语证、英语翻译证或英语口译证等可以抵学分。在如今几乎什么行业都需要英语的社会中求生存,获得一个英语证书比选修《社会心理学》、《自然探索与创新》等课程更实用。“90后”在中学都学过英语,有自主学习英语的能力,在政策的鼓励下他们可以最有效地利用环境由被动学习转而主动学习。

3.2 确保情感教育的实现

1)教师需要减负。学校可以通过外聘英语教师或是让优秀的在校大学生或研究生担任大学英语教学,以解决英语教师师资不足;教师可以将所授班级分组,选出组长,由组长批改作业后将情况统一反馈给老师,或者教师抽组批改,既掌握了学生的学习情况又有更多的时间研究教学;教授同一年级同一科目的教师可以分工设计各个单元的情景教学,进行资源共享,不但减轻负担,而且丰富教学内容。

2)丰富教学方法。教师应站在学生的角度,以培养学生兴趣作为出发点去设计课堂活动,创设丰富的语言环境,增强教学的互动,以真正提升学生的语言应用和能力。显然,不是每位教师都能在课堂上热舞。但是随着科技迅速的发展和广泛的使用,我们可以把学生感兴趣的时尚教育溶入到教学中。如学习环保主题时,可以观看《后天》、《2012》等英文原声电影,听地道的英语口语,学习电影里的单词和对话。又如学单词时,比起一遍遍地读,用歌曲或Hip pop把单词唱出来,会更吸引学生学习的兴趣。

再次,教师应多鼓励学生。许多学生因基础差或想表现个性,在课堂上避免说英语或回答问题,即使被老师点到,回答都是“Sorry,I don't know.”。这时,大多数老师都会选择放弃鼓励这名同学而换下一名学生发言。这无疑是情感教学的失败,同时纵容了学生的被动,也为学生传达了一个负面信息:学生有不参与课堂学习的自由权。因此,教师应该多鼓励学生,消除学生心中的顾虑,帮助学生做心理建设的同时协助他们完成课堂任务。

3)教师也需要“潮”。语言本身就是一个时尚的元素,常因时代的变化有词的增减或更新。英语教师需经常进行自我充电,更新业务知识。此外,还需要掌握和了解一些时尚资讯,并在个人外形上下功夫。对时尚、个性的“90后”而言,套装和正装只会增加教师与学生之间的距离。还没有上课就产生了距离,课堂上要吸引学生的兴趣就有些困难了。因此,教师得体的、时尚的着装和外形是吸引学生的一个武器。

3.3 分层次教学

分层次教学能在一定程度上解决大班教学中忽视学生个体差异的问题,学校可以根据学生英语语言能力编班,班级分为三个层次:快班、中班和慢班。这种教学班级缩小了同班学生在英语语言能力方面的差异,有利于教师对英语语言教学进行统一要求。针对不同层次的班级采取相应的教学模式,在慢班里实行基础为主、交际法为辅的教学,中班采用形式中心与意义中心的教学模式,快班采用学习中心的教学模式。这只是分层次教学在大学英语教学中的宏观模式,要真正达到教学要求、实现教学目标,还必须根据三个不同层次班级的特点,分别对其教学模式进行微观上的定位,才能达到提高各个层次学生的语言能力的目的。

3.4 编写与专业对口的英语教材

不同的专业应该根据自己专业的特点和需求编写教材。这就需要一批有一定专业知识,英语水平又相当好的人员从事这类教材的编写和教学工作。这样一项工程要求高、难度大,实施起来并非易事,但也将是未来英语教学发展的趋势。

4 结束语

教师一定要“为人师表”,如果教师穿着比较时尚,会被认为教学水平不高、业务能力不行;如果教师和学生大谈时尚资讯,会被认为有失稳重、误人子弟;如果教师在课堂上跳劲舞,一定会丢掉“饭碗”渐渐的,这些对业务外的束缚无形地转移到对教师们的思想上来了。因此,教师若能在教学中充分表现自己的个性,在学生面前展现真实的自我,师生关系一定会由疏远转为亲密,教学上也会取得突破性的效果。

制造业需要工匠精神，出版界、教育界也同样需要。工匠精神意味着对粗制滥造、只讲数量不讲质量、只讲经济效益不讲社会责任的摒弃，意味着对精益求精、追求完美精神的践行。熟悉出版的人都知道，我国对出版物的管理是十分严格的。比如我国《图书质量管理规定》中规定，“差错率不超过1/10000的图书，其编校质量属合格”“差错率在5/10000以上的，出版单位必须自检查结果公布之日起30天内全部收回”。如此严格的流程和规定，也就决定了图书出版不应出现大量的差错。然而，问题还是出现了。原因，恐怕不外乎两点：一是图书主编以及编纂者没有尽到应尽之责；二是出版社把控不严，致使不合格的教材教辅流入市场。除此之外，选用此套教材的高校也有责任，没有尽到对教材审核和把关的义务。

教材图书的出版环环相扣，只要其中一方尽职尽责，有质量问题的教材就难以流入市场。而生产、采购等程序之所以全部瘫痪，恐怕还在于社会的浮躁之风，各种诱惑侵蚀了编纂者、出版社和高校。事实上，如今教材教辅市场存在着一些不良之风，如一些专家教授挂名出版图书，只拿利益，不管质量；一些出版社为了效益最大化，缩短出版流程，恶意压缩编校成本；一些高校选购教材教辅存在不透明，甚至利益输送的情况等等。近些年来，在市场经济的冲击下，尤其是伴随着文化单位的改制，整个行业更多地向发行量看齐，这导致了大量粗制滥造的教材教辅流入市场。改变这一切，需要相关部门严格监督和惩戒，更需要出版企业把目光重新放到自身的社会责任上来。

教材不同于一般读物，是一种能够精准、高效传播知识的纸质媒介。教材一旦出现知识性差错，便会对学生造成一辈子的影响。根据相关规定，包括教材在内的图书要经过“三审三校一通读”才能付印，且出版教材要经过编写、审阅、校对、印刷、出版、使用等一系列程序，每个程序都有人负责。可是，新闻中的出错教材，都第二版了，仍堂而皇之地摆在书店货架上，并且仍在课堂上使用，这说明不仅教材出版的前期工作没做好，出版之后的错误收集、停售、召回制度也不健全。若不是高校教师与市民发现问题，这本教材还会一直错下去。
