金融会计专业PS个人陈述(financial accounting)Since I was just a kid, I have shown a great admiration to those who carved out from scratch because I think that is the life I expected for with vigor and challenge. However, many of them failed at last mainly because of the financial accounting. It is very difficult for a company to change the resource into money without the professional financial management and an abundant financial professional knowledge. As the “batch product of the school”, I desire to become the “class A product” with abundant professional knowledge and good quality after two years study in the campus.Although I knew that the “investment risk” was ineluctable, I believe the future investment yield will be huge in the future. On the choice of investment project, I certainly chose my favorite accounting in he financial field and sincerely hope that the further study can presented me with a solid foundation and full preparations for the future work in the company financing.Cherishing this interest, I came into the University of International Business and Economics, where I learnt many subjects with the related English books such as “Theory and Application”(James L.Farrell, Jr.), “Investments”(ZviBodie), “Corporate Finance”(Ross)and “Options, futures, and other derivatives”(John Hull).Through years of study in college, I realized that the various economic actions of a company are just like the apparatus of a human body while the financial management works like the blood, which guarantees the normal working of the apparatus. Therefore, I became very interested in this field because of its importance in the society.【成绩好】Pocketing this hot enthusiasm and taking advantage of my insistent efforts, I got the high scores in many subjects such as the financial accounting, financial management and economics etc.which ranked me into the top line in our class.Furthermore, I enjoyed an excellent score both in mathematics and English, which provided me a solid foundation to the financial and accounting work in the future.Through my study, I realized that the finance and accounting are the comprehensive subjects, which embrace many related subjects like mathematics and English. Therefore, in order to get an embedded
understanding in this field, I must improve my comprehensive ability.【实践】Meanwhile, I knew that both the finance and accounting are the practical subjects coming from the practice instead of the textbooks. So I never stopped applying what I have learnt into practice. Thanks to my insistent efforts and clinging spirit, I was fortunate to get the opportunity to practise in the Liaoning Sub-branch Bank of Bank of China with an aim at cognizing the main work of the bank accountants and the related business flows of the bank through the practical operations. However, it was very difficult for me to complete my practical study because the Electronic Interbank System was widely adopted in the modern banks.Facing this difficulty, I looked up many books and related files such as “Accounting of Financial Corporation” and the magazine named “Study on the Liaoning Rural Finance”.In these books and magazines, I finally got the clear cognition of the difference between the bank accounting and the corporation accounting. However, they shared one essence with the same accounting factors, the basic preconditions and general principles. Therefore, I believe that the understanding of the work of the bank account is very helpful for my future work no matter what kind of accounting I get involved in because of the close associations between the corporations and bank.【称赞表扬】My sweats finally rewarded me with the high praise of my colleagues and the leaders of the bank and completed my practice perfectly and successfully. Therefore, I was known as the independent girl with strong ability, clinging spirit and creative ideas.Besides, I have participated in many academic activities like the Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum, in which I got the opportunity to contact with
many famous professors and experts in this field.【在美国学习】Meanwhile, through the study and practice these years, I realized that China is still far behind the advanced countries in the world in this field. So I decided to further my study in the United States, the leading university in this field.Through my study there, I planned to make my own achievements in this field. After a careful consideration and deep attracted by your nutritious academic atmosphere and many famous teachers and professors, I finally chose your esteemed university to achieve my dream in the future. Therefore, I would be very appreciated with your consideration of my application.
The number of students who apply their admission to foreign universities has been increasing rapidly in recent years. The personal statement (PS) , as a crucial way to show one’s academic abilities, motivation and various experiences, realizes the communication with admission committee. It, to a large extent, determines the success of application. However, due to unfamiliarity with the writing skills, background and other factors, quite a few personal statements are sub-standard, resulting in rejection of application.Unfortunately, little attention is paid to the study of personal statements. As Krashen argues, large amounts of comprehensive linguistic input that is slightly beyond learner’s level of competence will lead to acquisition of the target language[3].Therefore, based on Krashen’s second language acquisition theory, the study aims at improving the understanding and efficiency of English personal statements writing.
2 Krashen’s SLA theory
During the late 1970s Krashen put forward an account of SLA first known as the Monitor Model (Krashen, 1979) .In the early1980s, it was expanded into a broader based model described in Kashen (1981) , which consists of five central hypotheses:the acquisition learning hypothesis, the natural order hypothesis, the monitor hypothesis, the input hypothesis and the affective filter hypothesis.Among them, the input hypothesis and the affective filter hypothesis are influential. The Input Hypothesis is Krashen’s attempt to explain how the learner acquires a second language.According to the hypothesis[3], the leaner improves and progresses along the“natural order”when he/she receive second language“input”that is one step beyond his/her current stage of linguistic competence. For example, if a learner is at sage“i”, then the acquisition takes place when he/she is exposed to“comprehensible input”that belongs to level”i+1”.The Affective Filter Hypothesis deals with how affective factors relate to SLA.The filter controls how much input the learner comes into contact with, and how much input is converted into intake.Learners with high motivation and self-confidence and with low anxiety have low filters and so obtain and let in plenty of input, the vice versa.
Comprehensive input is closely related to output, in this way, attention should be paid to get comprehensive input, overcome anxiety and produce good output in the personal statements writing. Thus, the writing abilities will largely be improved.
3 Application of Krashen’s SLA Theory in EPS Writing
3.1 Input of EPS vocabularies
Vocabulary acquisition will enhance English writing level, and possession of countless English vocabularies as much as possible will provide the comprehensive input for PS writing.PS, as an academic promotional genre, has its own feature in words.Students may have learned many English words, but they lack enough storage of EPS writing vocabularies. Therefore, students need more comprehensive input of EPS words to compose standard and highquality PS.
The use of action verbs in large numbers is an outstanding feature in English PS writing.Action words are often used to compose concise, persuasive, reader-centered resumes, cover letters, or other types of workplace documents[4].They describe vividly about experiences, skills and accomplishments of applicants. In example (1) , the verb“master”and“gain”indicate the learned skills of the applicant. If we omit“embodied”in example (2) and“working”in example (3) , the sentences will be“I realize the erudition in...”and“I have been as....”Nevertheless, the applications of action verbs in original sentences highlight the dynamic meanings of“embody”and“work”.So these action verbs express ideas powerfully and serve an active tool to reach the communicative goal.
1) The special emphasis of undergraduate program not only allowed me to master...but also gain insights into the culture....
2) I started to realize the erudition embodied in the entire framework of knowledge...
3) I have been working as project assistant at...University.
In addition, as personal statement is a decisive factor in determining the success of application, candidates should try their best to make their personal statements outstanding by employing positive and advanced words which are accumulated by input. These words not only directly show the writing level of applicant, but also present applicants’admiration of program, attitudes, competence and other aspects. For instance, synonymous words such as“wellestablished”, “highly respected”, “much more developed”and“more advanced”used to describe the program that a candidate applies would sound quite pleasant to admission committee.Synonymous words including“passion”, “desire”, “pursue”, “interest”, “yearn”, “long for”and“would much like”used interchangeably to state applicants’strong will and motivation to conduct researches in the future. All in all, accumulation of numerous action verbs or synonymous words will be helpful in laying a solid foundation of English personal statements writing.
3.2 Input of PS Writing Background
Culture mirrors language. Many Chinese applicants have wrong understandings about writing English personal statements. They usually tend to begin with the introduction of only growth environment and childhood experience and even spend nearly onethird space of article narrating while most unfortunately are irrelevant to the purpose of application. They give less or superficial accounts of academic progress, expertise and qualifications which are the primary concerns of admission committee.Worse still, Chinese applicants would write all extracurricular activities to show their all-round qualities. In contrast, English personal statements emphasize on demonstrating applicants’academic abilities, displaying their interests and motivations in study, explaining how their capabilities match the applied program and disclose their future plan. The native speakers who value“individualism”would first and foremost, put forward what they want before taking an action. They would, more often than not, resort to detail about goals, personal traits and social or work experiences related to the applied program rather than overly describe childhood. As a consequence, when writing English personal statements, applicants should have some input of differences between Chinese and foreign culture so that it can facilitate presenting the candidature of applicants.
3.3 Input of English PS writing skills
3.3.1 Wording
The objective of writing English personal statements is to get a seat in the university.Inspired by that, applicants should express their intentions explicitly such as“I have chosen your esteemed university....”or“I have made my decision to purse my master study based on....”Personal statements are filled with not only academic severity but also with creativity, sensibility and emotion. They highlight applicants’professional knowledge as well as reflect their deep thoughts in life value. They should be written with confident tone to impress the reader of“My merits would qualify me absolutely for your university”.Successful personal statements employ emotional appeal to create some emotional connection with readers such as the example (4) and logical appeal to state the related evidences such as the example (5) .Besides, complex clauses are used frequently to show high level of applicants’writing. In conclusion, the applicants should make utilization of strategies to the fullest by wording to convince admission officers that they are capable enough to be engaged in high-level study and research.
4) I am confident that my quality education in your university will endow me with the most advanced theoretical knowledge and professional qualifications to scale new heights in my future career in China.
5) I have found that the most important factor in successful business lies in how the business is able to exploit its resources to meet the needs of its target markets.
3.3.2 Genre
Applicants should attach importance to the input of generic structural elements of personal statements. Many researches have been done to sort out the schematic structures of personal statements with favorable and similar results by indentifying“move”and“strategies”.Among them, He Xiaomin, a graduate student form Chongqing University, has conducted a contrastive genre analysis of personal statements written by Chinese applicants and American applicants. In He’s dissertation, He concludes that an English personal statement consists of three moves: (1) application motivation, (2) establishing credentials and (3) conclusion[1].In every move, different strategies are adopted. The first move to realize depends on two strategies: (1) projecting hook by telling representative personal experience related to applied program from which the committee would find out the qualities of applicants and (2) stressing the agreement of personal goal and applied program to create a desirable effect of fulfilling the goal by the program. In EPS, thesecond move is the most important and obligatory.Three strategies are employed:stating (1) academic research background to demonstrate comprehensive academic ability (2) ex-curriculum experience to show extra-curricular performances (3) personal abilities and traits. In the final move, two strategies are optional: (1) clarifying future ambition and plan (2) reaffirm the desire to be admitted.
4 Conclusion
Before writing the English personal statements, comprehensive inputs of vocabularies, culture background and writing skills are of great necessity.Through large amounts of these inputs beyond writers’previous knowledge level, anxiety and other negative emotions will be diminished and overcame, while confidence will be strengthened and new knowledge will be easily took in.All of these contribute to composing personal statements with quality and effectiveness to leave a deep impression on admission committees.

Someone may argue they are awkward and old-fashioned, but I consider the rhythm between lines as something extraordinarily attractive.
Though trembling with cold, I stiffened my neck, stretching my eyes over the ocean of people to see the speaker, while being determined to be as knowledgeable as him.
I am XXX, a second-year undergraduate student of College of Material and Chemical Engineering, XX University, China.I major in Materials Science and Engineering.I now sincerely apply for an opportunity to study a one-year undergraduate courseinthe University of Utah /USA /materials science and engineering. My strong interest in chemistry started in my high school years.I was then very proud of knowing more chemical experiments and phenomena than my companions.I even had my own in-house laboratory for small experiments.I have been fortunate to be able to participate in the study of two research topics—i.e.the research into anti-pollution-and-damage bio-materials in oceans(led by Associate Professor TANG Min of the Biological Engineering program)since April, 2011, and the project to extract semi-cellulose from coconut husk(led by Professor CHEN Yong of the Materials Science and Engineering program)since September, 2011.Though it is time-consuming, this hands-on experience has been a happy daily work for me, in which I combine my theory learning with real practice.I have found myself more skillful with hands, knowing more about various
experiments and instruments.Apart from academic study, I also take part in various extracurricular activities. For instance, elected as the Director of Science and Technology forthe College Youth League on October, 2010, I am responsible for organizing all kinds of activitives in science and technology. At this post, I have developed different abilities and felt very happy.Although in the beginning I found it hard to coordinate people and get things organized, I gradually learned to classify my team members and assign tasks to them according to their characters.Through practice, I can now find the right man for the right task, for instance, the out-going for communication and coordination work, the assertive and innovative for preparing and designing work, and the people with foresight and attraction for making agenda and delegating. In the meantime, as a cadre of my college , I give a helping hand to my fellow students where I can when they meet with difficulties in study and other aspects. As a result, I have formed deep friendship with my classmates.Aside from the above, I am very interested in music, and I like to play the piano and clarinet in my spare time. After the one-year study in your university, I plan to come back to Hainan University to finish my last undergraduate year.I
