高考试题是经过专家精心编制的试题,思维缜密,代表性强,智能价值高。对试题进行研究、再利用,有利于准确把握考试精神和方向,使备考复习与高考接轨,更具针对性、实效性,可以获得能力和方法的训练成果,提高英语综合水平。本文通过重温近年来的高考书面表达题的开放部分,归纳、总结出佳作的方法和技巧。

一、亮化书面表达“开放部分”的重要性

作文开头和结尾部分尤为重要。近年来,主观发挥部分频频登上高考英语作文结尾的“宝座”。2005年考生须发表对和谐社会建设的态度,开放部分约占总篇幅的1/5,2006年要求考生添加23条关于奥运会志愿者的行动,约占1/4。2007年让考生讨论高三学生是否需要锻炼,2008年和2009年请考生列举23点“怎样倾听”和过分依赖鼠标带来的后果,均占1/3左右。2010年请考生介绍自己的英语学习,对学校英语教学提出建议,信息量很少,大大增加了自主发挥空间。

开放性作文只给出写作要求、主题或提示,由考生谈自己的看法。这样就存在跑题偏题、要点不全、甚至无话可说等情况。可一旦发挥出色,也成为整篇文章的点睛之笔。以2007年的作文为例:就内容而言,可以按照给出中文的层次把文章分为三段:第一段介绍阳光体育活动,内容客观(数字、时间、地点和人物),没有必要发挥;第二段是教育部介绍的三个要点,中文相对简单,所以着力于思考如何避免生硬的表达;第三段完全开放,让考生表达自己的意见,是全文最容易出彩的地方。

总之,更加开放,留给考生更多发挥的余地是江苏省自主命题的趋势之一。答题需要考生更高的语言表达水平和很强的谋篇布局的能力,同时提供了广阔的思维空间及语言组织空间。文章的优劣也主要由开放部分体现。因此,要在英语书面表达上上层次、出精品,开放部分要掷地有声,响亮有力。

二、亮化书面表达“开放部分”的举措

部分学生在写提示要点时已难以流利写出,如2009年的若干难度不小的“动宾结构”编辑文本、收发邮件、点播音乐等。在绞尽脑汁写完客观要点后,不少学生匆匆收笔。开放部分结果可想而知:语言枯燥,句子平淡无奇,内容千篇一律,很难在评分中取得较高档次。我认为要想写出能获得阅卷老师欣赏的佳作,应从以下三个角度使开放部分靓起来。

(一)关注社会生活,培养思维能力,为作文添采生辉。

高考写作内容的弹性很大,需要生活阅历和思维能力作为后盾。否则,可能成为不切实际的空话、不合逻辑的糊话。

从2005年和谐社会,2006年奥运会志愿者到2007年阳光体育活动,作文话题贴近生活、社会热点,紧跟时代步伐。近三年避开地震、世博会等热点,但仍和中学生的生活息息相关。分别是倾听;鼠标;英语学习。以2009年为例:考生们一开始可能会有点懵,鼠标不是新鲜的事物,但出现在作文中并谈论其利弊很棘手。对于鼠标的好处大家可能还比较熟悉,但谈论鼠标的坏处,考生们就犯难了。实际上,过分依赖鼠标就是过分依赖电脑,间接地就是过分依赖网络。一旦把鼠标扩大到网络的时候就“柳暗花明”了。这样,成就了范文“A convenient tool can certainly makeour work easier,but it doesn’t always help in a positive way.Too much ready information...”。2010年的书面表达也贴近学生的生活实际,引导学生思考现实问题,表达自己的态度。难点在于学生能否分析和处理熟悉的信息。英语学习的目的多种多样;英语学习的方法各有不同;课外学习英语的途径丰富多彩;至于对英语教学的建议,可以联想出现在学校英语教学中的一些问题。

“低门槛,高要求”,高考作文既考查了学生的写作、思维能力,又考查了学生的语言经验和语言意识,尤其是语言运用能力和组织输出的能力,能较好地体现学生水平差异,从而较好地把握选拔性考试的效度和区分。考生只要平时观察生活,就能尽情发挥。教师也要引导学生,与时俱进,关注社会,广泛接触文化、经济、科学等各种题材,拓展视野。还可鼓励考生观看时事分析等电视讲座,观看“对话”等节目,同时学生之间交流共同关心的话题等,所有这些都有助于学生提高思维能力,培养辩证地、全面地、发展地分析问题和解决问题的能力,从而摆脱思维定势的束缚,进入更广阔的思维空间。

(二)注意思想性,提高文章思想内涵,给书面表达增加亮点。

一篇文章没有了正确的思想就没有灵魂。文章的思想性是积极、健康向上、符合事物发展的。近年的作文体现新课标理念,注意德育渗透。如2005年“建设和谐社会”紧跟形势,围绕当前政治热点,宣传国家的方针政策。2008年的“如何倾听”是一门艺术,能够更好地促进人际关系。善于倾听,是每个人走向成熟的标志;学会倾听,也是我们人生必修的一堂课。学生在完成任务的时候也在进行自我表现教育。

开放部分虽然思维发散空间很大,可引用人们普遍持有的观点,也可表达自己独到的见解,但必须有思想性。如2006年“如果我成为志愿者,定会努力学习、遵纪守法,定会与外国来宾交朋友,使奥运会圆满成功。”是整篇文章中心思想的升华。再如2007年,考生一般都会支持高三学生锻炼,并给出如促进身体健康、提高学习效率的理由。若考生从锻炼占用学习时间、可能受伤等角度对一小时锻炼持否定态度,相信无论写得多精彩,也得不到的阅卷老师的青睐。

近年高考对写作的要求增加了情感因素。适当增加句子的感情色彩即人情味,可使文章读起来亲切,便于与读者交流。如2006年的开放部分富有感情色彩,志愿者的态度跃然纸上;如果直接表示会好好工作则平淡无味。除内容外,表达方式也可作出贡献。2010年的三个句子“We should be given...Ihope our teachers can recommend...I suggest we have...”使我们读到了考生提建议时的诚恳态度。添加程度修饰词也能让人感到有血有肉,如“even harder”(2005),“never be lazy”(2006),“well worth it”(2007),“really enable”(2008),“certainly make”(2009),“have a better grasp”(2010)等。活用体现感情色彩的特殊句式如感叹句、强调句型等更能传递生动的动作形象,体现作者的情绪特征,如2006年“I will...,but never...”和2009年“Too much...Too many...”两处排比句清晰地表达了作者作为一位志愿者、中国人对办好奥运会的信心、决心和对过度依赖鼠标者的忧虑。

(三)瞄准第五档作文标准,选用高级词汇、复杂句型,使文章文采飞扬。

从第五档的要求可看出评分标准鼓励考生尝试使用高级词汇和复杂句型,并对由此产生的错误采取宽容态度。开放部分应重视以下三点。

1.努力使用较高级的词汇

所谓高级词汇是考生在中学阶段学过的能准确表达题目要求的内容,但令阅卷老师眼前一亮的词汇。“见微知著”,选用哪怕仅一个高级词汇,都会令文章“鹤立鸡群”。

(1)选词求新、求异

选词求雅、新、精,是新标准提出的要求。基于此,要尽可能做到个性张扬、标新立异。2006年“creatively,follow,opportunity,make”及2009年“positive,ready,pursue,creative”等词汇运用得相当娴熟且不落俗套。再如2007年“...to have daily exercise..work more efficiently”,范文上段中everyday摇身一变成daily,水平立现;efficiently与well,effectively比较应该是最佳表达。

(2)多实少虚

形容人“nice”若选用generous,humorous等具体意义的词,能更形象地传达出丰富的品质。2006年“creatively”、“lazy”和2009年“convenient”、“creative”等都富有较强的感染力。2008年更是别具匠心地运用了“supportive”、“knowing”等词,形象传神,可谓技高一筹,读后令人回味。

(3)短语优先

短语的意思往往比单个词饱满。近年的范文开放部分皆因词组的“加盟”而令人耳目一新。“show respect for”(2008年)使短文更具书面语的特色。再如2007年“build up our body,keep a clear mind”,2009年“leave room for,both mentally and physically”,2010年“make suggestions,have a better,graspof”等词组的灵活玩转,显示出作者对英语掌握得游刃有余。

2.善于写句子

(1)使句式多样化

高考范文无不结构紧凑,表达方式多样。如2010年三种句式提出的三条建议给文章增色不少。再如2008年范文结尾运用了各种得当的语法结构、句子结构,从而使整篇文章生辉。

写作时,为使表达生动形象,要尽量采用长短不一、结构不同的句子。需要注意的是,句子的结构变化应从文章的中心思想、篇章的总体布局出发。高考的范文都是充分利用了学生们常用的各种基本句型及其相应的多变的表达方式,使文章生动且达意。总之,要在准确的基础上变化,在保险的基础上发挥。

(2)借助精彩文句

阅读是写作的基础。随着大量阅读英语文章,学生逐渐把握英语篇章结构、精彩的语言表达,积累素材,增强语感,进而提高写作能力。如2005年开放部分“I will study even harder and try my best to do all the above.”简单明了又包罗万象,是作者潜心阅读后“薄发”。学生可总结交际功能强大的句型熟记,如“It’s high time that sb.did sth.”、“Only in this way can we...”、“Taking into account...,it is obvious that...”等。诸如此类句型彰显水平,值得积累。2007年两条理由的陈述若改为“By doing exercise,not only can we build up our body but also keep a clear mind,thus studying more efficiently.”,必定更能征服阅卷老师。

英语中还有数以万计的谚语、名言警句,如:“Every coin has two sides.”、“No pains,no gains.”等,有助于丰富词汇,提高表达能力。

3.适当地添加连接成分

语句间的连接成分是句子、段落间的桥梁。要成就好文章,还必须行文连贯。纵观近年来的高考范文开放部分都得益于过渡语的应用。所用的关联词有eventhough,therefore,besides等。考生可按转折、因果等归类记忆。“谋划”主题句也很必要。主题句放在段首开门见山,段中承上启下,段尾概括全段。“Personally,I think it...”(2007)和“In a word,...”(2008)、“Aconvenient too l can...”(2009)、“Now I’d like to make some suggestion son...”(2010)若缺失,整篇文章就逊色得多了。

综上所述,高考英语作文正向开放性发展。要使它胜人一筹,开放部分须写得响亮。具体说来,应培养学生细心体会生活,鼓励其关注“窗外事”,并尝试描述周围的变化与改革。还要紧扣主题发挥,写出思想性较强的语段,使整篇文章锦上添花。使文章立体化的程度词和体现感情色彩的特殊句式的使用也会受到肯定。最后,使用高级词汇,合理地选用各类句型,灵活运用多种语法结构,使文章增添华彩;课外的广泛阅读及对优美例句的搜集和背诵也能让考生在文章收尾时得心应手;适当地添加连接成分和主题句也可使文章浑然一体。

半开放式作文是近年来英语学科书面表达的一个趋势和要求,也是高考英语书面表达的一种常见题型。所谓“半开放”是指试题给出部分要点,考生自己再增加一些要点。这样的作文可以分为两大部分:试题给出的材料和自己增加的材料。在写给出材料时一定注意不要遗漏要点,更不要曲解试题的意思。在写自己增加部分时也不可以随意发挥,要吃透命题人的意思。例如:关于中学生是否可以把手机带进教室,我们最好不赞成带手机进教室,因为命题人一般是大学或中学的老师,他们是不会赞成学生带手机进教室的。

二、 高考英语半开放式作文的写作技巧

下面以2009年某市高三年级第二次调研测试书面表达题为例,谈谈高考英语半开放式作文的写作方法。

【经典例题】

最近教育部就高中取消文理分科的可能性和可操作性,广泛征集意见。消息一经传出,立即成为人们热议的话题。社会各方对此存在严重分歧。请你给China Daily写一篇文章,阐述分歧,并发表自己的观点(至少两点)。

要求:

(1) 可根据内容要点适当增加细节,使行文连贯。

(2) 词数:150字左右。短文开头已写好,不计入词数。

参考词汇:

①文理分科:divide students into science and arts

②文科生:liberal art students

③理科生:science students

4. 推敲要点表达方法

(1) 取消文理分科有利于学生的全面发展。

如果你不知道“全面发展”怎样表达,你可以将上句婉转写成:文理分科影响学生的综合素质,即affect the overall quality of students。

(2) 导致……的缺乏:lead to/result in sb.’s lacking…

(3) 不关心社会学科: not care about social science, such as…

(4) 将加重学生学习负担:put more pressure and burdens on students。

(5) 分科尊重学生个体差异。这句话可分解成:每个学生都有自己的长处和弱点, 分科是尊重学生的意愿,即

have one’s own advantages/strengths and weaknesses, show respect for one’s opinion/interest。

5. 难点

半开放式作文难就难在自己的观点上。会写的就能得到另外两个要点的分;不会写的或观点不恰当的,就可能失分。因此,发表自己的观点非常重要。

对于文理分科,你可以说:过早分科不利于学生未来的发展;如果现行的考试制度不改革, 就没有必要谈论这个问题。最后要求教育部对此事要慎重考虑。

Most experts are in favor of ending the separation of science and arts. For one reason, the ending of the division of subjects contributes to students’ development in an allaround way. For another, dividing subjects will lead to arts students’ lacking science knowledge while some science students won’t care about social subjects, such as history and politics.

However, some parents and students have the opposite opinion. They think the ending of the division of subjects will add more pressure and burdens to students. Dividing subjects means showing respect for students’ interest as each student has his or her own strengths and weaknesses.

In my opinion, dividing subjects too early is not good for students’ future development. I hope the Ministry of Education had better take a careful attitude toward this problem.
