一、活用教材, 研究学生的阅读心理和培养学生的持久阅读兴趣
(一) 利用多媒体, 运用多种导入手段, 引起学生兴趣
1、重大版高中英语教材图文并茂, 几乎每一篇阅读课文均配有与材料有密切联系的插图, 有的是为了提示教材难点, 有的是为了印证教材观点, 有的是为教材重点服务。因此我们应该利用文中的插图导入新课, 使学生产生阅读课文以了解信息的愿望。如《英语1》第二单元“A Diary from Brian”的图片, 可作如下导入;

有了一定的词汇量, 才有助于帮助学生提高阅读速度。所以, 我们进行阅读训练时, 首先必须让学生过好单词关。在词汇的学习中, 首先要学生识记大纲中规定的单词, 词组, 并与学生一起探索省时高效的记忆的方法。重大版英语教材很注重词汇的再现和构词法的运用。在教材中, 出现了很多前缀和后缀。如un-, dis-, -ness, -ment等。老师在平时教学中要让学生加深对构词的理解, 掌握更多的词汇。
二、立足教材, 培养阅读方法, 形成阅读技巧
从重大版高一英语教材的阅读课文及其练习题来看, 主要要求学生掌握阅读技能的快速阅读Fast reading (略读Skimming和查读Scanning) 和细读Close reading两种基本技能, 因此教师在指导学生学读过程中应着重训练这两种阅读技巧。下面就以Book 1 Unit 1 My New English Teacher为例来具体运用这三种技能。
1、略读 (Skimming) 。
我们把略读也称跳读或者浏览.这是一种专门的非常实用的快速阅读的技能。所谓的略读是指尽可能快的阅读。迅速地获取文章的大意或者主题思想。也就是说略读要求读者有选择地进行阅读, 可以跳过某些不必要的细节, 从而加快阅读的速度。在这篇课文中, 教师可让学生利用Skimming来回答这个问题:How does Tony think of his new school life and his new Enlish teacher?进行略读训练时注意以下几点技巧: (1) 要利用排版格式, 如文章的标题、副标题、小标题、斜体字、黑体字脚注、标点号等。对文章进行预测略读.预测略读要了解作者的思路、文章方式, 以把握大意、有关的细节及其相互关系。 (2) 以一般速度阅读。阅读文章开头的一二段.力求抓住文章的大意、背景情况、作者的文章风格、口吻或语气等。 (3) 阅读段落的主题句和结论句。据统计, 大约有80%的主题句是段落的首句, 其它20%左右是尾句。因此我们往往可以通过阅读每段的首句或尾句来了解整篇文章的大意。如在这篇文章中第二段的第一句I do enjoy the new school life here.和第三段的第一句Mr.Mills is our English teacher, and I’m very much impressed by his devotion to teaching.就是主题句 (4) 注意关联词。如转折词however, moreover, 序列词firstly, secondly。
2、查读 (Scanning) 。
查读是一种从大量资料之中查找某一具体事实或某一特定信息。如人物、事件、时间、地点、数字等。而对其它无关部分则略去不读的快速阅读的方法。运用这种方法就能够在最短的时间内略过尽可能多的文字资料, 找到需要的信息。作为一种快速寻找信息的阅读技巧, 查读既需要速度又要求查读的准确性。具体的说, 查读带有明确的目的性。有针对性地选择问题的答案。因此可以把整段的文字映入大脑, 不必逐字逐句过目。视线在文字上掠过, 一旦发现有关的内容就要稍做停留, 标示或摘下。为了进行有效的查读, 读者还应注意利用材料的编排形式、章节标题和说明、抓题示词等技巧。如在这篇文章中课后第一题:complete the following table with the information from the text.Then share the ideas with your partner.就可用Scanning来完成, 我们只需要在课文第三段中查找Before class, In class, After class即可, 不需细读全文。
3、细读或研读 (Close reading) 。
为了领会和掌握所读材料的精神实质和内容细节以及作者的立场、观点、意图, 就必须使用字斟句酌, 边阅读边理解边深入思考的阅读方法, 这就是研读。研读时要求理解准确、透彻, 不但要掌握文献的字面意义, 而且还要深入理解作者的意图及文献的价值;不但要理解文献里的信息, 而且还要通过分析、比较、联想等思维方法, 用已有的知识、经验对这些信息进行“内化”, 把它们置入我们的知识系统, 真正消化吸收所读材料的营养, 提高我们的智力。研读不等于慢读, 要注意培养按意群阅读的习惯, 集中注意领会文献的信息, 立足于读一遍就能理解全部内容, 注意提高阅读速度。如课后第二题Read the text again and decide whether each of the statements is true or false.和第三题Answer the following questions according to the text.我们就该用此阅读技巧。
三、培养良好阅读习惯, 加快阅读速度
(一) 养成默读习惯
很多高一学生在初中时并未养成默读习惯, 在阅读时, 习惯发出每个词的读音。有的学生虽然没有发出声来, 但内心还在自言自语, 一词一句的读, 严重影响阅读速度。这就需要教师在指导学生阅读过程中, 要求学生养成默读习惯, 把注意力只停留在文字符号上, 避免嘴唇的蠕动或低声诵读, 以免分散注意力, 减慢阅读速度。
(二) 扩大视幅, 减少回视
有的学生往往用手或用笔指点着逐词阅读, 有时还来回数次往返阅读, 唯恐遗漏什么, 这影响了阅读速度和连贯理解。为提高效率, 要培养学生从整个句子去理解, 迅速地从前一个句子扫视到第二个句子, 以避免频频回视, 重复阅读等不良现象。尼拉史密斯说得好:“如果你想读得快, 你必须狼吞虎咽, 而不是细嚼慢吞。”
(三) 养成猜生词习惯
通过上下文猜测词意是提高阅读速度的最重要手段之一。阅读时, 有时会遇到不认识的单词, 若该词在文中重要性不大, 且不影响通篇的理解, 可忽略而过继续往下读;若遇到影响阅读理解的生词则可通过联系上下文所能提供的线索猜测该词词义。重大版高一英语教材特别注重培养学生猜生词的习惯。在每篇阅读课文Reading板块右边Margin Notes中安排的“插话”, 用简单、图画、选择题、问题、提示语等方式启发学生思考, 帮助学生理解新单词, 从而逐步获得词汇学习和阅读理解等方面的策略。因此, 教师应该利用好这一板块。
(四) 限时阅读
为提高阅读速度, 还需限定文章的阅读时间。在规定的时间内要求学生有效地获取信息, 加快阅读节奏, 增加紧迫感, 从而在规定时间内高质量的完成阅读内容。
总之, 英语课文是学生获取语言知识, 提高听说读写能力的资源, 也是学生高考的基础。重大版英语阅读教材中的课文具有话题广泛, 信息密度高, 语言知识丰富等特点, 正确探索此教科书的阅读方法和教授方法, 不但能使教师本身尽快地适应新的英语改革的高层次要求, 同时也可使自己的学生在一个鲜明而正确的向导的指导下, 逐步培养起英语学习兴趣, 提高他们的阅读技能, 养成正确阅读习惯, 提高学生阅读能力, 从而起到事半功倍的效果。
摘要:高中英语教学大纲指出:高中英语教学应“侧重培养学生的阅读理解能力”。近年来的高考英语试题也加大了阅读量。因此, 我们在高中英语教学中应注重培养学生良好的阅读习惯, 指导学生形成正确的阅读方法, 提高学生的阅读能力。而我们正在使用的高中英语新教材 (重庆大学版) 为我们提供了大量内容丰富, 题材广泛, 语言地道的文章。教师在教学中应该充分利用教材, 培养学生阅读基本技能 (导读, 略读, 查读, 猜词型阅读和细读) , 帮助学生养成阅读的好习惯。
